Children Toy Foundation helps and guides to set up toy/game libraries. CTF has so far helped various institutions to set up more than 331 toy/game libraries covering 13 states & 3 territories across the country. The Limca Book of Records 1998 has recorded this feat under Human Story .
The foundation has provided know-how and guidance for setting up similar libraries in countries like Zanzibar and U.S.A.. It helps them to make a budget, select toys according to the budget, get them at discounted rates and then offer guidance on administration of games and libraries.
Toy Libraries have been started at orphanages, schools, crèches, industrial and business establishments, mentally retarded institutions, physically handicapped institutions, Homes for the Aged, worker colonies and even in hospitals & jails. Many of the Youth associations and women organizations have approached CTF for guidance.
CTF also conducts ‘On the Spot Game Contests’ at inter school level. It has got an international award awarded jointly by two international institution viz.1)ITLA-International Toy Library Association & IPA-International Association For Child Right To Play.
CTF feels that even a sick child can get well soon if he / she is in a good mood and in its endeavor CTF visits hospitals in and around Mumbai such as JJ. Hospital, St George Hospital, G.T. Hospital, Nair Hospital, K.E.M.Hospital, Sion Hospital, Bhagwati Hospital, Rajawadi Hospital, Muktabai Hospital KJ Somiya Hospital and alike, every Saturday/Sunday/holiday to entertain sick children with games and toys.
It has a full-fledged Toy Library and every evening, street-children come to play games of their choice. The NGO has a team of trained volunteers to teach these children various games to play, and it also takes care of them. The atmosphere is truly divine. It’s really a joy to see how the young children laugh and enjoy themselves. In order to share their games and views CTF also write articles on games and puzzles that are published in magazines ‘Femina’ and ‘Tarang’.
CTF makes every effort:
To develop indigenous games like
Game Bank, Sour Grapes, Relate 3, I Drop, Be 2nd to be 1st etc. which
are made available to toy libraries.
- To bring awareness about the importance of games in a child’s life.
- For donating toys and / or libraries to the deserving organisations for the lesser privilege children
Besides CTF has 4 mobile play van services called LAFF Van/Brighter Tmes Bus/ Nanha Munna Express& Excel LAFF, two play centers called ‘Khelvigyan’ in two municipal schools in Mumbai namely a) City of Los Angeles Muncipal School, at Matunga b Nagrik Prathmik Shiksan Samiti’s school no. 17 at Baroda..CTF benefits about 10/11 thousand children of 33 municipal schools,10 construction sites/NGO,6 private schools and 10 hospitals and 20 villages of Banaras U.P. We have helped & guided Vidyarambam Trust, Chennai to start 3 mobile van services and one toy library in their school for Tsunami affected vilaage children.
CTF also arranges for special training of teachers for capacity building. And on holidays goes to the orphanages and shelter homes.
